I may have overdone things just a bit yesterday. We spent a couple of hours slowly ambling around the Nurnberg Spring Festival which wasn't too bad. We then spent a bit of time walking the large expanse of park surrounding the festival grounds, seeking out old NAZI relics from some of the finished and unfinished projects during that time. After about thirty minutes, my ankles were starting to get sore and my big toes were experiencing some familiar gouty twinges. That was when I decided to pack it in for the day and not push things. Still, I may have overdone it just a bit.
Here's the weird thing, though - yesterday it was my ankles and big toes sending me the warning signs. Today, not a peep from any of those joints. It's my right achilles tendon, a VERY familiar place for me and bad, bad gout attacks, that hurts. It's getting worse as the morning wears on, too. I don't think this will manifest in to a bad attack, but it is giving me a slightly gimpy gait and I'm being careful when I walk. The wife and I have a long weekend trip planned to Vienna starting this Friday and I don't want to be hobbled while we're there.
My plan was to do another light workout session on the eliptical tonight or to maybe even go for a short walk with the dog. Instead, I think I'll just take it easy and see if this latest minor flare-up doesn't subside. I will be going in to the clinic tomorrow to schedule another appointment with my regular doctor, but I'm unsure of when that will take place. Since he's been away, he could be a bit booked. I just hope I don't need any emergency meds before the trip this weekend!
2 PM Afternoon Edit - Right Achilles is feeling worse and now a weird spot on the top of my left foot is feeling gouty. I say weird because you wouldn't think this is a place gout would strike but it's pretty familiar to me. I don't 'think' this could be from the accidental meat I ate on Saturday. Most gout sufferers don't totally turn away from meat altogether like I've done. I think it's from too much exercise and walking the past four days. See, exercise can be bad for you :)
My damn back hurts too. I need a new office chair.
